ignite's Connect zone is an online community area or social network. Members each have their own profile, blog and the ability to generate content across the whole of ignite. They can also private message other members, chat on our public shoutbox, upload photos and start groups.

Membership of ignite is free, but it is based upon existing face-to-face relationships SU Scotland has with secondary-aged teenagers (S1 - S6 school years) across Scotland. To gain membership you need to be invited by SU Scotland to join. We do not offer membership to public users as we have no way of verifying their identity (see our online safety page for more information).

There are several ways to be invited to become an ignite member. All secondary-aged campers attending a SU Holiday (http://www.suholidays.org.uk/) or a SU Regional Weekend away are automatically invited to join ignite. Also, as of October 2009, you can apply to become an ignite member by belonging to a secondary school SU Group. More details of how this works will follow soon.

Adult volunteers of SU Scotland on Holiday or Weekend teams, and/or involved with SU Group leadership can request to become a member of ignite by emailing SU Scotland's Volunteers Department. ignite is the only social network or online community where SU Scotland authorises leaders to chat online to teenagers they've been leading as a volunteer of SU Scotland.
