Everyone at Scripture Union Scotland wishes you all a merry Christmas for 2011 and a happy New Year. We pray that regardless of how you are feeling right now and in whatever the circumstance you find yourself in that you may experience a surprising joy bubbling up within you as you celebrate the birth of Jesus.
If you haven’t read it already, we recommend checking out this year’s ignite Christmas blog post, entitled, ‘They Will Call Him Immanuel.’
See you in 2012 unless you're at our Christmas Houseparty!

You may have noticed that some members of ignite now have an [a] after their name. This is to increase transparency about who is an adult on ignite. When you see someone with an [a] after their name you can now quickly tell that you are interacting with an adult online. All adults on ignite are registered volunteers with SU Scotland and have been through the Disclosure system.
We are not quite finished with adding [a]'s to all the adult's on ignite, but we hope to have done this by the end of this week. So don't worry if you're an adult and an [a] is yet to appear, it will do soon.

We'd like to draw your attention to a new series of blog posts we are writing under the guise of the Seek icon in his personal blog in the Connect zone. The series is called 'Roots' and in it we explore a mix of some of the foundational beliefs that Christians hold alongside some things that have enriched our Christian journey we wish we'd known earlier.
The first blog post simply introduces the series, but the second post will be posted tomorrow to kick off the series proper.

We've just had the first ever group spring clean. With 366 discussion groups having been created in the past 20 or so months and many of them unused and lacking in discussion we decided to have a clean out.
So over the past week we have deleted around 250 groups, with more possibly to follow as we evaluate the groups we have remaining.
Your group may not have been deleted completely though as we have also merged the discussions of a number of groups. For example, the number of groups based around a single instrument was phenomenal, so we merged them altogether into a single Musical People group.
So if you're group was connected to the following topics they have been merged: animals, cars, chocolate, Christmas, Dr. Who, food, football, movies, music (bands and songs), musical instruments, random chat, sports, Top Gear/The Stig, travel, and video games.
We have also restructured the group categories based upon the groups you have created since we launched two years ago. We'll write more about this next week!
We hope that by having fewer groups this will help create more discussion as you only see the discussion groups that are actually having discussions!

This Easter why don't you take a break from all the chocolatey goodness and take some time and space to think and reflect about what the Easter story is all about. Write down any reflections and thoughts you have and share them with the ignite community in a Blog. It can be anything: what Easter means to you, a fresh revelation you've had this year, something that really stands out for you in the Easter story, what you feel reading the events in the gospels.
It can be anything from a few paragraphs to a poem to an epic work! But we would love you to share your Easter reflections.
May you experience a fresh revelation of the love of Jesus this Easter time.
