Some members are finding that when they try to upload a new avatar or photos to a gallery the upload fails. This is because the photo uploader that ignite uses has an undisclosed pixel dimension limit.

We have now been able to work out what this limit is (worked out through a lot of trial and error): for portrait photos the maximum size is (w) 2030 x (h) 2706 pixels and for landscape photos the maximum size is (w) 2706 x (h) 2030 pixels. This is the equivalent of photos taken with a 5.5 Megapixel camera. If your photos are taken with a 5.6 Megapixel camera or higher then your photos won't upload without resizing them.

Sadly, we cannot change our photo uploader limit as we use third-party software to do upload photos to ignite. Neither can we change photo uploaders, as the photo uploader is part of a larger piece of software which is integral to ignite's Connect zone. You don't need to worry too much about all of that, and yes, a 5.5 Megapixel limit was a stupid idea, but we are stuck with the issue until a future update fixes it.

In the mean time you will need to resize your photos below this pixel limit to get them to successfully upload to ignite. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has and will cause.
