Repentance is one of those Christian jargon words that simply means to change direction.
In the Bible, Jesus shares God's dream for humanity/creation and invites people to team up with God to make this dream a reality. However, to team up with God in this way requires us to rethink how we view God, to reconsider how we relate to people and to think afresh about where our priorities in life lie, amongst other things.
This rethinking requires us to admit that a part of our lives was getting in the way of God's dream, to say that we had it wrong and to choose to live differently.
Admitting that you are wrong is hard, but God wants us to do it so that we can become all that we can be, living more inline with his dreams.
