Artemis, teenage genius, through meddling with magic through the hi-tech underworld of fairies has contracted the horrible Atlantis Complex disease. This has resulted in him becoming nice, amongst other symptoms such as OCD and multiple personalities.
Soon though, the fairies once again call on the criminal mastermind’s help, only to find him in a deranged state of mind. Can they get Artemis back to his true self before they are overridden by reprogrammed gelatinous robots?
Definitely the best so far in the series, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would probably read it again.
You do not have to have read any other books in this series and you can jump right in as Eoin Colfer introduces everything very well and find yourself immediately bound in the story, you WILL be unable to put it down!
Although Artemis is seemingly a bad character, he has changed throughout the series into what you would call a better person - donating millions to charity instead of thinking of his own wealth and saving the fairy population time and time again. He is a likeable character, and always interesting to read about and see what’s going on inside his head. You find yourself, as a reader almost instantly relating to him, and feeling what he feels. At the same time, he is lonely, with absolutely no friends his own age and nothing NORMAL to do in his spare time. In all honesty, I find him more interesting than Harry Potter.
