Sorry to interrupt… I was going to give a big ‘Shout Out’ to all those who had been to either Go Live or Go Mad last year – but then I thought, that’s so rude. I was always told that shouting out was just drawing attention to myself, and that’s not what anyone wants to see. So how about a polite ‘Hello, sorry to interrupt’ to all those who were there last October. Ah, the memories… but let’s look to the future and in particular to Friday 15th October at Lendrick Muir – close your eyes (metaphorically – you need to keep reading), picture the scene… and cue dream sequence type music...

You get off the coach, with jeans freshly washed and with a sharp crease down the middle – silently you curse your gran for doing your ironing… but nevertheless you are keeping it all v cool. You look around at your fellow conference delegates (‘delegates’ …sounds like ‘Bill Gates’… hmmm mental note to self - might be able to work that one into a funny comment at the dinner table). You recognise some of them… the big guy from Edinburgh who was at camp with you – the funny bloke from Basecamp who’s taste in music was reeking – your sister who’s standing beside you (further note to self – do not speak to your sister for the next 72 hours).

You get inside and are given a warm welcome from the SU guys – they’re a good looking bunch aren’t they – and nice too. Yes, I’m with the dorm with guy with bad taste in music… And what’s this? A booklet programme for the conference. You are greadually realizing that this is not just another weekend away… you’ve got a programme, and no-one’s taken your mobile off you… You start to think that your Ben10 snuggle blanket may be staying in your bag all weekend...

Well, the story goes on from there and you have a brilliant time… (the dream sequence is finished now by the way).

Anyway to cut a long weekend short I’ll tell you who I think would like this and you see if you fit in and then you can decide if you want to get a booking form and go and ask for some money.

1. If you are involved with an SU group at school and you think ‘I’d like to be leading this/ leading this better.’

2. If you do stuff at your church and wonder if there are any 4 day conferences available that would give you good pointers when it comes to organising a programme or finding material.

3. If you have decided to take your faith in Jesus more seriously – you want to get into the Bible and find out how to read it properly and make sense of it.

4. You want to hang about with people who go through the same hassles for being a Christian at school as you do – and want to be encouraged to keep going.

Okay, enough is enough – go to www.suscotland.org.uk/goconferences and look at the details.

GO Conferences are from Friday afternoon 15th – Monday afternoon on the 18th October at Lendrick Muir.

If you were at Go Live or Go Mad last October and want to tell people how tremendously super-duper it was and you're also a member of ignite then please post a comment below…
