SU Scotland is committed to making ignite a safe online environment in which secondary-aged teenagers can be themselves, make new friends and socialise online.
We believe our commitment to online safety has positively influenced ignite's community structure as follows:
Face to face relationships - An invite only membership means that SU Scotland have an existing face to face relationship with every member on ignite.
No anonymous members - Every member on ignite is known by their real name and their age is clearly disclosed on the site. This means you know exactly you are talking to at all times.
More privacy - No public users can access your profile, view your avatar or any other community pages/features.
Make more friends - The majority of our members are teenagers and with all adult members clearly identified this means our teenage members can get on with making friends their own age.
A safer environment - All adult members of ignite go through SU Scotland's Volunteer application process and subsequent annual updates. This includes character references and an enhanced CRBS disclosure (i.e. a nationwide Police-check).
